The society for ancient and medieval times, Aquila Maritimus
Purpose
This is the supporting society to the Vikingvillage Storholmen, with the goal to give an interresting insight to viking age life, and to give a practical experience of viking age life and handicraft. In cooperation with the Foundation Storholmen Norden, and with other organisations with similar interest, the purpose is to give a broad and living experience of ancient history.
Members
As a member you are privy to a number of different activities that the village offers, such as courses and journeys, arranged by the society or by the foundation. You will always receive up-to-date information about the many different activities and occurences happening in the village during the year.
During summer many of the members live and work in the viking village Storholmen , that are beautifully locaed next to the lake Erken. The club often visit other ancient villages, fairs and festivals around Europe. During summer sometimes voluntary workers come to the village from all over europe, to live viking life on Storholmen. This is what a voluntary worker wrote in the club paper about staying in the village for summer.
Excerpt from the regulations of the society
"§ 2. The societys main directive shall be to promote the interest on, and the knowledge of, swedish history, ancient and medival times, as well as promote cooperation with societies with similar interests."
